70 Arrested Candidates May Miss UTME-JAMB.

The Zonal Coordinator of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board in Benue State,Mr.Samuel Umoru, said today that the Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination candidates,who were arrested during a protest,might not sit for the forthcoming examination,unless the police release them.

Some candidates for UTME in the State had,on Monday protested against their inability to access the JAMB website,where they would print their examination details.

No fewer than 70 of the protesters were arrested by the police.

The 2015 UTME Examination starts on Monday,March 9.

However,fielding questions from newsmen in Makurdi,Umoru noted that the action of the aggrieved candidates was unnecessary,noting that JAMB could not deliberately cause them untold hardship.

Umoru said the police were still investigating the matter,adding that the candidates could not be released until their interrogation was concluded.
He said,the police might charge the candidates to court.

He also said" I cannot guarantee the release of the arrested candidates for now and whether they will be allowed to write the forthcoming examinations;only the police can determine that."

According to him, the  protesters destroyed part of the Agency's building,vandalised a transformer as well as some vehicles belonging to staff of the board.
