The Military has said that it has once more achieved some victory by dislodging Boko Haram insurgents from Lame/Bura forest between Ningi and Torro Local Government Areas in Bauchi State.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations,Col.Sani Usman, in a statement said troops from 33 Brigade of the Nigeria Army cleared the area of terrorists in an operation which started last weekend.
Usman said : "Quite a number of terrorists were killed,their weapons and equipment destroyed. Similarly, a sizeable number of arms, ammunition, food stuffs, vehicles and improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, were recovered by the troops."
According to him, the troops also recovered three Toyota Hilux vehicles, 12 motorcycles, four AK-47 rifles, a Fabrique Nationale rifle, one small Machine Gun, SMG, one Police Tear gas launcher, 36 Primed IEDs , 56 rifles magazines and over 500 rounds of 7.62 millimeter ammunition.
Other items recovered include six jerry-cans of vegetable and palm oil as well as several IED -making materials, among others.
The liberated area, he said, served as not a hide -out but operating ground for the terrorists.
Usman stressed that the feat was an addition to the countless dislodging of the Boko Haram terrorists from most of its havens in the North Eastern part of Nigeria in a six-week operation to flush the insurgents from the region, pointing out that the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Kenneth Minimah, was impressed by clearance of the Bauchi forest, and had commended the troops for a job well done.
