Photos: The House Buhari Grew Up in As a Boy

On Tuesday, the opposition leader General Buhari was elected as president of Nigeria. Many across northern Nigeria, especially in Daura his birthplace, have been celebrating ever since.

The BBC's reporter Abdullahi Kaura Abubakar visited the very house where General Buhari was born. His relatives still live there and Gen. Buhari's sister, Rakiya Amadodo Muhammadu, is exicted and elated that her brother has been elected president of Nigeria.

The BBC Abdullahi also chatted with Buhari's best friend while he was young, Alhaji Lawal Aliyu, who said Buhari was a cool, disciplined boy. He also said he became more disciplined when he went to secondary school and later joined the military.
